Apparel & Footwear Industry:
AFS solution with ASAP Tool
The Apparel & Footwear industry has unique requirements. The major components of the product structure are color, size and design. Also the products have strong seasonal demand and high rate of obsolesce. The rough demand can be predicted but the final demand (size, color etc) can be predicted in short span only. The forecast of the demand is very difficult, as many factors influence the demand (e.g. winning of one soccer team can give boost to the demand of Tee shirts having logo of that team). Many variables like size, color and design can increase the database volume to a great extent.
SAP R/3 has developed Apparel Footwear Solution (AFS) for the industry. The implementation was one of the first implementations of AFS solution.

Role of the author: The Author was implementing WM. The AFS was not extended to WM. So the author had to study the AFS solution and customize WM module to suite the AFS requirements.
